SCHOOL EXCURSIONS AND SCHOOL VISITS
The
Hahndorf Farm Barn is a very popular destination for school visits
and school excursions. The students always enjoy interaction with
the baby animals and the "hands on" approach to learning
about life on the farm. The Farm Barn and picnic area are UNDER
COVER so it is an ideal activity for schools - come rain or shine
!
A typical visit goes something like this;
- Arrive about 10.00 am for recess
- Come into the Barn for an introduction to the animals
- Bottle-feeding the baby lambs and goats, holding chicks, feeding
carrots to rabbits and guinea pigs and MUCH MORE...
- Around 11:15 AM the bell rings to start the show with Billie
the alpaca, Sam and Dolly the sheep, and Daisy the cow. Every
one has the opportunity to hand milk - even the teachers
- Walk Billie and Chico the alpacas, ride the tractor, say hello
and talk to Larry and Bob the cockatoos
- Now it's about lunchtime
- After lunch there is a run in the Wildlife Park to see wallabies,
a white kangaroo and maybe feed Bambi, Thumper, Prancer and Lucky
- our friendly Deer
- Time to go back to School around 1.30 PM
